My Names Emma when I started my journey I was 30 years old, I've been overweight my entire life, there was a brief year when I was about 18 when I was not but I was ill and when I was well I put it all back on.
In January this year as most people do I decided I was going to set my new years resolution to loss weight, I've done this for countless years and never stuck to it , in the first few weeks I didn't do very well, so the 17th of Jan I decided to start calorie counting, set small achievable goals and not huge ones that would take me ages to hit. The first week was hard the sugar withdrawal was he'll the head aches ect were awful. But I pushed on, then I knocked off crisps chocolate and eating after 7pm this was a big thing for me as I did most of my eating at night, I worked with this for a few weeks, i wont sugar coat it it was hard, food was my comfort it was what i did when i was sad or happy or bored, i was however happy with the weight dropping down so i stuck to it, yes i slipped occasionally but i shock it off and my next meal was fine, never wait till tomorrow always star again right away you will do less damage to your efforts and the little slips will be just that, little slips, I started looking at portion control and lowering my calories, I started eating breakfast and 2 other meals and the odd snack.
Buy the time I'd lost 2st in march I was feeling amazing I was trying to hit 10k steps a day on my fit bit and found myself wanting to go faster, so I started the c25k app on my phone. It took me 3 attempts to do the first day, I tried so hard but I just couldn't do it, but I didn't give up I wanted it so much I pushed on, I had great support from my friends one who is a keen runner and was convinced I could do it, it was her belief I could that made me believe I could....and I did buy week 5 of c25k I'd dropped the app and just ran and listened to my body walked when I needed to and ran when I could
. By may I was running 5k 3 times a week and was about 4st lighter, summer was so much easier this year, i was confident in shorts and the heat didnt affect me the way it had done in previous years, i was enjoying summer
As the weightloss slowed i decided to lower my calorie intake again and look into other forms of exercise, I started swimming at my local leisure centre and eyeing up the other classes they did and the gym, after my holiday in July I joined the gym, the staff were incredible, so supportive would answer my millions of questions tailored the plan to my needs etc,
It was then I ran my first 10k, after about 4 weeks in the gym I did one of the trainers weights for women workshop's. I was hooked weightlifting is incredible and ive been lifting ever since!
i have new goals now and if you would have asked me this time last year if id have been where i am now id have laughed, but im now a completely different person, the change in my mood and the things i enjoy how i am in public how i react to people and how i feel about myself that is a big one i can now look in a mirror and love myself rather than turn away and not be able to look
i will probably update and tweak this but it will do for now for a first draft
